Smile Design

Smile design refers to the way teeth are shaped both individually and relative to one another to harmonize with the lips, gum tissue and the face in general. It can involve the use of veneers, crowns, bridges, whitening, orthodontics and gum tissue re-contouring to optimize the overall appearance of your smile.

Perhaps a new smile isn’t enough.

For those interested in an entire facial makeover we can help. Dr. Montrose has put together a panel of professionals in plastic surgery, life coaching, hair design and clothing. In fact, this panel was featured on KGW News over a four month period as they provided a makeover to one lucky contestant. We are proud of each member of our panel for performing outstanding work and especially pleased with the outcome of our smile design, which utilized a combination of gum tissue alteration, porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges.

Veneers

Veneers can straighten, lengthen, and whiten teeth to provide your desired smile and bite. They are thin porcelain restorations, bonded to prepared teeth. Veneers cover part or all of the biting surface as well as the visible part of the tooth. Veneers can create the smile you have always dreamed about.

Neuromuscular Dentistry for TMJ

It is the art and science of using the relaxed position of the muscles of the head and neck to place the jaw into an optimal physiologic position. Thirty years of research and clinical experience have shown this technique effective in treating patients with various levels of head and neck pain. It is also used in finding the optimal jaw position before restorative dentistry, and greatly increases the longevity of restorations and natural dentition.

Bridges

A Bridge is a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic tooth in place. The strength of today's porcelain permits most bridges to be fabricated entirely in porcelain, allowing for optimal aesthetics. Aesthetics, function, and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.

Crowns

A crown is a complete covering over a tooth used to strengthen and protect against chewing forces in the mouth. There are many types of crowns available today. The most natural-looking crowns are made of porcelain. Porcelain is a glass material fabricated to look and feel like a natural tooth. Crowns can be placed individually or in conjunction with veneers to enhance the smile and, like veneers, rival the appearance of natural teeth.

Tooth Colored Fillings

By intercepting the potential of fracture before experiencing symptoms of hot/cold sensitivity and biting pain, new conservative treatments like tooth colored filling or porcelain bonded restorations are preventing the side effects of toothaches and broken teeth. Using a proactive rather than reactive approach to amalgam replacement is a choice many patients are happy to have.

Invisalign

People are often amazed at the impact small subtle changes make, when improving the alignment of their teeth. Our office is proud to offer Invisalign as an option to enhancing your smile. If your teeth have shifted since having braces, or if you would like straighter teeth without wearing traditional braces ask us about this comfortable, new orthodontic technique using invisible retainers. Often this work can be completed in four to five months.

Teeth Whitening

Tooth whitening is one of the most popular areas of cosmetic dentistry. Even subtle changes in lightening the color of some ones teeth, can take years off one’s appearance. We offer two methods in our office, the in office “ZOOM!” technique, and a take home tray method. When using ZOOM! a patient can walk out of the office with whiter teeth in 1-2 hours. When using the take home method a patient can whiten their teeth more gradually over time at home. Both methods have provided excellent results.

Gum Re-Contouring

“Gummy smiles” are a very common problem, caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue that then covers the teeth.

We use a laser to change the look and shape of the gums. The laser actually vaporizes unnecessary and unsightly tissue, leaving healthy, normal looking gums in place. The Laser is unmatched in its accuracy and effectiveness. The process takes only a few minutes for most, and there is usually little to no discomfort.
